ONAGI exists to strengthen belonging, welfare and opportunity for Luos in Europe. We create space to support one another, preserve our heritage, navigate life in our European home and build a stronger community together.
Our constitution places mutual support, integration, cooperation and charitable action at the heart of the Association. That gives us a simple test for everything we do: does it strengthen people and community?
Welfare is part of our foundation, but ONAGI is broader than a welfare fund. It is a platform for connection, culture, integration and collective progress.
A dependable support network for members, including structured bereavement assistance when families need their community most.
Helping members settle, connect and thrive in their European home while staying rooted in Luo identity and community.
Preserving and celebrating Luo heritage in ways that speak to our children, our diaspora and the generations still to come.
Creating a trusted forum for dialogue, cooperation and collective action across the regions where our members live.
Our ambition is to help members feel confident in both worlds: connected to the language, values and traditions that shaped us, while participating fully in Finnish and wider European society.
ONAGI’s constitution sets out democratic elections, member voting, financial controls, access to legitimate Association information and a formal conflict-resolution process. These are not back-office details; they are part of how trust is built.
Elected officials, member participation and transparent decision-making.
Dual controls, signatory oversight, reporting, reconciliation and audit readiness.
Defined grievance, conflict-resolution and conduct processes grounded in fairness.
Membership is open to people of Luo descent living in Europe, their spouses and children. People who share an interest in Luo affairs may also join as associate members, subject to the Association’s constitutional provisions.
Membership is a commitment to participation, respect, financial responsibility and the wellbeing of the wider community.
Prospective members complete a Membership Application Statement and submit it to Association officials for approval and entry into the Members’ Register.
